4 Tips to Remove the Shoe Clutter

Shoes can be the hardest part of keeping your closet organized.  They are all different shapes, sizes, and if you have a household like mine...you have a lot of shoes!  We were lucky enough to have a walk-in closet that already included a shoe rack.  However, that shoe rack only handled sneakers, flip-flops, and pumps.  The cowboy boots and knee high boots were flip flopping all over the place and making a mess of the closet floor.  Does this sound like you too?  I have some helpful hints to remove that shoe clutter.

Helpful Hint 1:  If you have the room, invest in a shoe shelf.  Here is a great example of someone who had enough room in their walk-in close to include this:

This shelf can be found at a place like Ikea.  It's affordable and perfect for your entire shoe collection.  If we had the room in our closet this would be my preference.

However most of us do not have a Carrie Bradshaw size closet.  Helpful Tip #2 is taken right from the Sex and the City star.  Keep your shoes in their original boxes but take a picture of them and stick that picture to the outside of the box.  This will help keep your shoes neat on the shelf with an easy way for you to know what is in each box.

Helpful Tip #3 deals with your wire hanging shelves.  My knee high boots were flopping all over the closet.  I went out and purchased the plastic clips that you can get to put on hangers for pants or skirts.  I clipped them on to the wire shelving instead so I could hang up my boots.  My fear was that the clips would leave a kink in my boots but they have not ruined them at all.  The boots hang perfectly.

Helpful Tip #4 is to have a regular shoe hanger installed.  This will at least help keep all of your shorter shoes visual and contained.

Both this type of wire shoe hanging shelf or the plastic clips can be found at any Wal-Mart, Target, or home goods store.  I hope this helped give you some great ideas on how to organize your shoes.  If you have any helpful tips please feel free to share them on our blog.

Tips and Tricks for Choosing the Most Comfortable Shoes

Tips and Tricks for Choosing the Most Comfortable Shoes

We all know the quest for a pair of work shoes that are both comfortable and stylish can be daunting.  And even when you think you've found the perfect pair after trying them on in the store, one eight hour work day can change how you (and your feet) feel about your new footwear.  So we have compiled from various sources all of the best tips and tricks for knowing whether or not a shoe will be comfortable before you spend your money on them and spend a day regretting them.

When Shopping for a shoe you should look for...

1. If it's a heel for work, don't go any higher than two inches and go for a broader based heel.  The higher the heel is the more pressure you are putting on the from of our foot and the more likely it will cause pain. (Wedges are comfortable because they distribute your weight more evenly and support your whole foot).

2. A good, firm heel counter (this helps lock the foot into the shoe and anchors it to the mid-sole, giving extra support).

3. A Sole and heel materials that provide cushioning and shock absorption.  Test a shoe for cushioning by pressing a finger into the ball area. It should have a little give or a slightly feel. Comfortable shoes typically have a cushioned foot bed that supports the natural shape of the feet.

4. A broader and deeper toe shape.  In the most comfortable shoes the toe box will allow a lot of room, preventing pinching or constriction of the toes.

5. Avoid synthetics!  Wear only shoes that have natural leather or suede insoles because it is breathable and pliable, it will prevent chafing and blistering while molding to the feet.

6. Visit a store that knows and cares about fitting and has a wide selection of comfortable shoe brands for you to choose from.

Lucky for our customers GretSHoesForU makes it easy by carrying shoe brands known for their comfort such as Ecco and Clark's.

Women Shoe Shopping for Holiday Parties

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 5, 2012 --- Survey shows women are looking for shoes to dress up their outfit this holiday season. Over 75% of women surveyed have already started shoe shopping for the holiday  season, according to The International Shoe Horn Association’s "Shoes and the Holiday Season" survey, conducted by Targeted Market Surveys. This survey of 450 female consumers, ages 18-54 was conducted on October 7-18.

When asked to select the type of shoe they want, 55% of the women indicated boots, 17% flats, and 11% pumps. Somewhat surprising was that despite all the press and buzz surrounding designer high heels, only 8% of women selected them as they type of shoe they are shopping for.

While the survey did not ask the reason for the their selections, Brogan Cobbler, Fashion Editor of Shoe Style Magazine commented "I'd say that although women love designer shoes, the economy and the retail price points of them were probably a factor.  Ultimately, they want trendy shoes at affordable prices."
The survey also revealed that the most popular way of shopping was online (67%) followed by an independent retail shoe store (60%).
